CORVETTES & CAPITALISM

CORVETTES & CAPITALISM

William Andrew Dillard
Heeza Nutt said that a guy with a “man bun” looked at Uncle Locke’s Corvette the other day and said, “I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost ?”
Uncle Locke replied: “I am not sure, but it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in Decatur IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore… It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families. BUT… I guess I’ll have to admit, I guess I really don’t know how many people it fed.”
Ha! He just made that bun-headed feller want to crawl back in his hole!
That is the difference between capitalism and welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people’s pockets, and give them dignity for their skills.
When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self-worth.
Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value.
Socialism is taking your money against your will and shoving something down your throat that you never asked for.

Uncle Locke decided he won’t be Politically Correct anymore, which he isn’t!

DRINKING FROM MY BEER

HEBREW HONEYCOMB

William Andrew Dillard
DRINKING FROM MY BEER

Wait! Please read the story before calling for the tar and feathers! It is indeed interesting to note the aurora of meanings surrounding words whose basic definition is unknown to us. A typical example are the words “beer” and “Beersheba.” “Beersheba” has a sort of romantic ring to it, and one may imagine some great and noble thing is alluded to by the compound word.
However, the word “beer” is actually a Hebrew word, hijacked by breweries, and inserted into the English language bodily (transliteration)> The Hebrew Word actually translates as “well” as in a well of water. Places which sell brewed drinks may be referenced as “watering holes.” Of course, such perverted usage of terms is clearly understood in that context as having nothing to do with plain and simple water.
The word “Sheba” is the Hebrew word for the cardinal number “seven.” So, one may wonder just how the cardinal number seven came to be joined to the word for “well” to create “Beersheba” (well of seven). Here is an interesting story. There was controversy over the ownership of a well of water that Abraham laid claim to as having actually dug. In a covenant of peace with the inhabitants of that country Abraham gave their prince seven ewe lambs as the token of a covenant made between them that the well belonged to Abraham. Hence it is the well that was redeemed by a “gift of seven” lambs., Out of that context, Abraham called the place “Beersheba.”
Now read the story in Genesis 21, and you will never forget the history of Beersheba. That place still exists to this day, It is controlled by descendants of Ishmael, and is a town called Hebron. Here is Beersheba, and also the cave of Machpelah which was the burying place of Sarah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph.,
Far from being boring, aloof, and uninteresting, the Bible abounds with mountains of fascinating information to bless the lives of all who invest a little time and energy into it. The Old Testament truly is a treasure house of “Hebrew Honey.”

CHANCES FOR ETERNAL STATUS DO NOT EXIST

William Andrew Dillard
Sometime ago, I witnessed to a friend who at fourscore years of age is not long for this world. I have prayed for his salvation and told him so. He reply brought shuddering to my innermost being. He said, “I have not lived a bad life. I will take my chances.” This man is under the delusion that a chance may exist when in fact there are no chances. Jesus said, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” John 3:17-18. Jesus also said that he who comes to Him, He would in no wise cast out. So what is there to gain in a supposed chance? Where is the logic?
It is like a number of years ago, when a man was killed as he drove his car across a railroad track in front of an oncoming train. He lived long enough to answer a few questions: it went something like this.
Did the barrier arms lower? He said they did. Were the lights flashing? He said they were. Was the bell ringing? He said it was. Did the train have its headlamp on? He replied that it did. Did the engineer blow the whistle? He said he remembered hearing it. Did your brakes fail? He replied they did not. Did the throttle stick? He said it did not. Then came the inevitable question, “Why in the name of God did you try to cross the track?” His reply was, “I thought I could make it.” I THOUGHT I COULD MAKE IT??!! Why? What was there to gain? There certainly was much to lose as he found out.
There will be no one in heaven but those who have received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. There will be no one in hell, but those who have refused to do so. Do not be a fool. Do not think you have a chance, because you don’t. Lights are flashing, bells ringing, and horns blowing, and you can’t make it! There is no chance! Open your heart to Jesus in repentance and faith. He paid the sin-debt for you. For every man, in every age, there is no other plan.

The Left’s Ridiculous Response to Trump Election Is Why He Was Elected | Daily Wire

In the aftermath of Donald Trump’s shocking victory on Tuesday night, the left has lost its collective mind. The media continue to offer the narrative that Donald Trump is responsible for a mass swelling of violence and hate – even as leftists around the country riot, burning things and breaking windows. The media continue to complain of Trumpian intolerance – even while their own readers burn their New Balance shoes thanks to the CEO’s antagonism toward President Obama’s trade policy, and the CEO of Grubhub threatens Trump supporters with firings.

THOUGHTS FROM THE OTHER SIDE

Just a thought on this election and some presumptions that are taking place in an era of social media.

I do not believe that one side and their reaction is indicative of the possible reaction if the tables were turned. Let me show what I mean by some explaining of my thoughts and reactions.

I live in the state where president Obama was an organizer and Senator. I followed his commission that he was head of that made decisions on abortion measures. I prayed as the decision was made that a baby that was aborted and lived would be laid some where and ignored until it died. Here is a baby fully formed and crying, that had beat the abortionist and sentence has been passed that that baby must die.

As a Bible believer and a preacher, believing that God gives life and God takes life, this was violently against what I knew the Bible to teach. There are many Bible believing people that knew of this injustice and we stood and lost at the ballot box. There was no one in the streets. We purposed to educate those that voted based upon emotion. We had some leaders in congress that made “bold” statements so that their constituents would feel better, then these leaders bent over backwards to accommodate the president. For 2 years the house, the senate, and the presidency was democrats holding the majority.

We still did not run out into the streets and demonstrate and riot and start fires because we are law abiding people. We continued to educate people about “character” and “Godliness” and aligning our thoughts and desires with Biblical standards.

The Clinton’s have a history that they cannot ignore. The white water scam reveals that they are an unethical people. Then we have Bill Clinton and rape and affairs and all the threats that go along with immorality. My father preached the funeral of a teenage boy that happened up on a drug deal and ended up dead. The coroner ruled the deaths of these two teenage boys was an accident. The call went out to an independent coroner and the rule was murder. This drug incident was traced through Mena Arkansas and to the governor’s mansion in Little Rock where Bill Clinton was governor.

After two years the aroused silent majority saw that the problem we were experiencing was not “color” but was character and “purpose”. The Clinton’s did not have the “character” to be put in the White house again. The “purpose” of Obama was not to govern by the constitution but by “fiat”, a pen and a phone. There for the silent majority, having been prodded out of slumber went into the streets to make a change at the ballot box and took the house and made it a republican bastion. Still weak and indecisive, yet some progress was made. Next, the senate was captured not because of rioting and burning but ballot box voting.

Oh what a primary the Republicans had. So many to chose from. I had several to chose from that were christian and conservative and promising. Scott Walker, Huckaby, Carson, and Cruz. Some others were Republican in name only. That is a nice way of saying they were to liberal for a true conservative to vote for. Some would say, but…but….Rubio. He was with the gang of 8 that pushed a bill where companies such as Disney could hire illegal aliens and fire their American workers. He also was with the gang of eight to oppose a border wall. You understand, the silent majority are law abiding people. They believe that all others should be law abiding. We are strange and different that way. We simply believe in the rule of law. I chose Cruz because he claimed to be a christian and he was a strong constitutionalist. I lost in the primaries. Now I have a decision to make on my vote. I did not care the brash, abrasive and obnoxious Trump. Do I write in a vote? That is a question that prayed about and labored over. As I saw the situation and did research, there were things I came to realize. The maledictions uttered by the main stream press were very inaccurate. I replayed Trump speeches and statements. He was not a racist until he ran for president. He stood with Rosa Parks and Ali in a ceremony. He uttered some profane statements and I hated that cavalier attitude. He apologized. Bill Clinton never apologized for rape and affairs and Hillary never apologized for threatening those rape or the Whitewater scam. The more I research, the more I found. The Veritas tapes were so revealing about how far the democrats would go to try to create conflict at Trump rallies. Creamer, a democrat in contact with the democratic party paid people to disrupt Trump rallies. A truly despicable thing to do. The main street media did not investigate these disruptions because they were complicit in pushing Hillary Clinton’s agenda.

At a womens conference in New York, Hillary Clinton made this statement. “Cults and religions are going to have to change what they believe.” This would be part of her agenda if elected president. I, a Bible believer could not accept this. I would immediately become a law breaker.

Now let us talk emotions. The Bible teaches us, we are to rule our emotions and not let our emotions rule us. Our emotions are to be based on fact and not whimsy. My Bible says “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” II Timothy 2:15. We should learn to make this application to all of our life and not just Bible study. John 8:32 – “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. I enjoy the freedom of knowledge. Trump didn’t rile emotions. The media riled emotions because they mis-stated the things Trump said to turn the people against him. Honesty is the best policy and the silent majority seek honesty and reject the lies of main street media.

May we come together, not in the idea of compromise but in truth, lawfulness and civility. Compromise is right and wrong coming together in the middle and both becoming wrong. May we ever dwell together in truth thereby garnering unity as the result.

WRITE HIS NAME: SPELL IT CORRECTLY

WRITE HIS NAME: SPELL IT CORRECTLY

William Andrew Dillard
Parson to Person
More frequently recently I see in the writings of others a purposeful refusal to spell out correctly the name of God. This originates in Jewish quarters, but is often employed by Protestant writers and others who may simply think it pious to so reference the Almighty. Perhaps that needs to be rethought. So, think with me for a minute!
When Moses met God at the burning bush in the Sinai desert, he asked Him His name so he could reply to his brethren in Egypt. God told him, “ ‘eheyeh mah ‘eheyeh” (I shall become Whom I shall become). “Tell the children of Israel that ‘eheyeh (the becoming one) sent me to you.” Exo. 3:14. Then in Exodus 6:3, God told Moses that His name was “Yehovah” (Jehovah) a slight variation of the same term used in Exodus 3, and has the same meaning. Now here is the point in all of this.
Men far afield of a right relationship with God think themselves to be showing due reverence to deity by not calling or writing His name. Both Jew and some gentiles will write “G – d” instead of “God.” In dealing with the name “Jehovah,” they will refer to the tetragrammaton (four letters) of yodh, he, waw, he, (the Hebrew letters of the name) instead of writing it out or saying it, to show their piety (supposedly) toward God, when they are far removed from His teachings.
The names of living entities are important. Moses and the people of his day recognized this. He asked God for His name because he knew his brethren would ask that up front. So, names should be employed as nearly correct as possible. Although I respond to names I may not care for, and are not commonly used to address me, I still prefer to have my name written or spoken correctly. Most everyone does. How much better then is it that the name of God should be written or spoken as correctly as possible. He did not reveal Himself in the Old Testament by about sixteen names by which He met the needs of His people simply to have them all ignored. misspelled, or misused. In the New Testament, His name is Jesus. That name came from heaven’s messenger because He would save His people from their sins, Matthew 1:21. So when referencing the Creator/Redeemer, call Him by His Holy Name and get it right. It is God, Jehovah, Jesus. To try to show piety by the misuse of His name is to underscore hypocrisy while adding insult to the Deity being referenced.
