1 John 3:1-3
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is,” 1 John 3:2.
As believers, we are called to be like Jesus. Each day many of us strive to be more and more like Him. I believe this describes you. You are probably one who desires to be like Jesus. I assume this because you are currently reading this devotional writing and trying to grow in your knowledge and faith in God. Our striving in this life is not in vain. God rewards our pursuit of holiness. However, we will not see the completion of this process until we see Jesus face to face.
When we do see Jesus face to face, everything changes. This sinful and broken flesh no longer holds us back as we strive for holiness. Will our struggle always remain? No! We will be as He is! When believers in Jesus finally look into His beautiful face, we are made to be like Him!
What does it mean to “be like Him”? It means that we will have glorified bodies. It means that sickness, age and fatigue will no longer have an effect on us. It means that we will be without sin. It means that we will no longer be prone to error in our thinking or theology, but instead, our knowledge and understanding will be perfected.
